Leaving the MTC tomorrow

I've only been in Provo for two weeks, but it's already time to leave for the field. I'm spending today packing and preparing to go, and I'm leaving for Dallas early tomorrow morning.

The MTC hasn't been bad, but I'm looking forward to getting out. As nice as the campus is, I'm ready to do what I've been prepared to do and invite others to come unto Christ. I've spent 3 weeks training, and now I have 102 weeks to go, all in Texas.

Time is pretty short for writing emails today, so I'll leave it here. I'll probably have more to write next week when I'm in the field.

MTC Week 1

It's been a good first week at the Provo MTC. I've only been here since Wednesday, but it's felt longer. I only have 8 days left until I leave for Texas though, so the rest of the stay should fly by.

The day after I arrived, my district went to meet with our branch president here at the MTC. I was assigned to be our district leader at that meeting, so that's exciting. My district has been good, they're all doing their best to make my job easy.

The schedule has been busy, but it's been more fun being with other missionaries than it was training from home. The spirit has been strong these last couple of weeks, and that's because I've been studying the word of God for hours every day. I've learned a lot and will continue to learn more as I serve God for the next two years and for the rest of my life.

My companion is Elder Griffin from Ashton, Idaho. He's fresh from high school, and he's a good Elder. We've been adjusting to each other, but things are going well. He brought a jaw harp with him to the MTC, he likes to play it while we're walking between places.

I'll share with you all one quick story from the week before I end the email. I have one missionary in my district, Elder Webb, who has a certain way with words. Our favorite turn of phrase he uses is instead of something hitting him like a ton of bricks, he gets hit on the back of the head with a 2x4. He says he's gonna send us all a piece of a 2x4 in the mail one day to remember him by. It's the small things that make the big moments, and that's one of them.

Have a great week, Jesus loves you and I do too!

His Service Begins!

Jaron was set apart as a full-tine missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 6, 2025.  He will be serving in the Dallas Texas West mission for the next 2 years.  He has been preparing for this time in his life for many years.  As his mom I think he will go out and do amazing things.  I believe he will guide people to Jesus Christ where they will find joy they have never felt before.  Some people may not want to learn more now, but he will build relationships with people, planting seeds of faith for later in their lives. This will be a time of great spiritual growth for him.  I want a record of what is to come in the next two years to see that growth.  We want to remember the things that he accomplished as a servant of the Lord.  I'll be adding his emails and pictures to each new post throughout the next two years.  May God be with him as he teaches those he comes into contact with.
