MTC Week 1

It's been a good first week at the Provo MTC. I've only been here since Wednesday, but it's felt longer. I only have 8 days left until I leave for Texas though, so the rest of the stay should fly by.

The day after I arrived, my district went to meet with our branch president here at the MTC. I was assigned to be our district leader at that meeting, so that's exciting. My district has been good, they're all doing their best to make my job easy.

The schedule has been busy, but it's been more fun being with other missionaries than it was training from home. The spirit has been strong these last couple of weeks, and that's because I've been studying the word of God for hours every day. I've learned a lot and will continue to learn more as I serve God for the next two years and for the rest of my life.

My companion is Elder Griffin from Ashton, Idaho. He's fresh from high school, and he's a good Elder. We've been adjusting to each other, but things are going well. He brought a jaw harp with him to the MTC, he likes to play it while we're walking between places.

I'll share with you all one quick story from the week before I end the email. I have one missionary in my district, Elder Webb, who has a certain way with words. Our favorite turn of phrase he uses is instead of something hitting him like a ton of bricks, he gets hit on the back of the head with a 2x4. He says he's gonna send us all a piece of a 2x4 in the mail one day to remember him by. It's the small things that make the big moments, and that's one of them.

Have a great week, Jesus loves you and I do too!
